General building work and smaller jobs

Trusted trades for the jobs that still need doing properly

Decorating, tiling, plumbing, electrical work, repairs, upgrades and finishing work — quoted clearly and handled by the right people.

Not every job is a full bathroom, en-suite or kitchen renovation. Sometimes you need a room painted, tiles replaced, a basin changed, a tap fitted, a toilet upgraded, electrical items installed or a collection of smaller jobs brought together properly. With years in the trade and a trusted network of quality tradesmen and craftsmen, we can help with the small jobs, the awkward jobs and the more involved home improvement work.

A practical route for local home improvements

Simple job or more complex work — come in and talk it through

Many homeowners do not know who to call for smaller building jobs. A decorator may not want to deal with tiling. A plumber may not want to make good. An electrician may only do the wiring. A small-looking job can quickly involve more than one trade.

That is where our trade background helps. We can look at what needs doing, explain the sensible route, quote clearly and bring in the right trades where needed. If it is a straightforward job, we keep it simple. If it needs proper coordination, we manage it properly.

Pop into the Munster Road studio, call, WhatsApp photos or send a short description. We will tell you whether it is something we can help with, whether a visit is needed and what the next step should be.

One conversation, the right trade

Instead of guessing who to call, speak to us first. We can advise whether the job needs a plumber, decorator, tiler, electrician, carpenter, plasterer or a combination of trades.

What we can help with

Smaller jobs, finishing work and general improvements

These are the kinds of jobs where good trades matter. The work may be small compared with a full renovation, but it still needs to be clean, safe, practical and finished properly.

Painting and decorating

Internal painting, feature walls, freshening up tired rooms, preparation, filling, sanding, finishing and making rooms feel clean and finished again.

Tiling and repairs

Wall tiling, floor tiling, splashbacks, grout repairs, silicone, trims and neat finish details for bathrooms, kitchens, cloakrooms and utility areas.

Toilet changes

Toilet replacement, WC upgrades, close-coupled toilets, back-to-wall units, concealed cistern access, boxing and making good around the new fitting.

Basins and vanities

Basin exchange, vanity units, taps, wastes, traps, splashbacks, small storage improvements and clean finishing around bathroom or cloakroom fittings.

Taps and plumbing

Tap changes, leaks, pipe alterations, wastes, traps, isolation valves and small plumbing improvements connected to kitchens, bathrooms and utility spaces.

Electrical work

Lighting, mirrors, extractor fans, sockets, switches and small electrical upgrades carried out or signed off by the right qualified people where required.

Making good

Boxing-in, plaster repairs, access panels, small carpentry, filling holes, repairing walls and finishing the areas that often get left after trade work.

Carpentry and fittings

Shelves, skirting, architraves, doors, panels, trims, boxing, small fitted details and the timber work that helps a job look complete.

General improvements

If the job improves the home and needs a proper trade approach, speak to us. We can advise, quote or point you towards the right route.

A trusted trade network

Years in the trade means knowing who is good

Good tradespeople are hard to find. After decades around building, plumbing, bathrooms, kitchens and local property work, we have built a trusted network of tradesmen and craftsmen who care about the finish, not just getting in and out.

That means we can help with jobs that need more than one person. A toilet change might need boxing and flooring. A basin change might need tiling and decorating. Electrical work might need making good. A simple job is often only simple when the right person sees the whole picture first.

Plumbers

For taps, toilets, basins, wastes, pipework and small bathroom or kitchen alterations.

Electricians

For lighting, sockets, fans, mirrors and notifiable work where proper certification matters.

Tilers and decorators

For the finish that makes the room feel complete, clean and properly done.

Craftsmen

For carpentry, making good, small building work and finishing details.

Why use us for smaller jobs?

Small work still affects how your home feels

A badly finished small job stands out every day. A neat one disappears into the room and makes the home feel looked after. We approach smaller work with the same practical thinking we bring to larger bathroom, en-suite and kitchen projects.

Look at the whole job

We consider what happens before and after the main task, including access, making good and finish.

Use the right trade

Where the job needs a specialist, we involve the right person rather than forcing the wrong trade to do everything.

Quote clearly

You know what is included, what is not included and whether the job needs a visit before a price is sensible.

Easy to discuss

Pop in, call or WhatsApp photos. We can quickly understand whether we can help and what the next step should be.

The right person for the right work

Electrical and gas work must be handled properly

Some general building jobs are straightforward. Others touch electrical work, gas work, ventilation or building regulations. When that happens, the right qualified trade needs to be involved.

For electrical work, a registered competent person can self-certify certain types of building work instead of the homeowner applying separately for building regulations approval. For gas work, the engineer must be on the Gas Safe Register. We keep this clear from the start so the work is approached safely and properly.

Registered electricians used where required
Gas Safe engineers used for gas work
Building regulation considerations discussed where relevant
Certificates and compliance routes considered before work starts

Electrical

Lighting, sockets, fans, mirrors and electrical changes need the right route, especially in kitchens and bathrooms.

Gas

Any gas appliance or gas fitting work must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Ventilation

Extractor fans, ducting and ventilation routes need proper planning in bathrooms, cloakrooms and kitchens.

Paperwork

Where certification is needed, it should be thought about before the work starts, not chased afterwards.

How it works

From a quick chat to a clear route

We keep the process simple. The job may only need a quick look and a clear price, or it may need a visit and more than one trade. Either way, you get a sensible route before work begins.

1

Tell us what needs doing

Send photos, call, WhatsApp, email or pop into the studio. Tell us what the job is and what you want to achieve.

2

We assess the route

We decide whether it can be quoted from photos, needs a visit, needs a specialist trade or needs a more detailed scope.

3

Clear price or site visit

Straightforward jobs can often be priced clearly. More involved jobs are viewed properly so the quote makes sense.

4

The right trade attends

We send or arrange the right person for the job, whether that is a plumber, tiler, electrician, decorator, carpenter or combination of trades.

5

Work completed properly

The aim is a clean finish, not a half-done job that leaves you looking for another trade to tidy up afterwards.

6

Future work if needed

If the job uncovers something bigger, we can explain the options and quote the next stage properly before anything extra is agreed.

Questions

General building work FAQs

Do you only take on big jobs?

No. We can help with smaller jobs as well as more involved work. If it is connected to improving, repairing or finishing the home, it is worth asking.

Can I send photos first?

Yes. Photos, videos and product links are often the quickest way to start. Some jobs can be understood from photos, while others will need a site visit.

Do you use qualified electricians and Gas Safe engineers?

Yes. Where the work requires a qualified or registered specialist, the correct trade is used. Electrical and gas work must be handled properly and safely.

Can you coordinate more than one trade?

Yes. That is often where we are most useful. A job may need plumbing, tiling, decorating and making good in the right order. We can help bring that together.

Can I pop into the shop and ask?

Yes. The Munster Road studio is there so local customers can speak to someone properly, show photos, ask questions and work out the next step.
